Replacing a toilet fill valve is a good project for any homeowner. You will need a large adjustable wrench, a sponge and a small pan.
This video shows the steps on a standard 2 piece toilet.
There are many good fill valves. I like toilet valves that are adjustable. The one I show can be adjusted from 9 to 14 inches in height. So it covers a wide range of toilet tank sizes.
You should be able to complete this project in 30 minutes or less.
This is a great basic skill that every homeowner can do.
The only problem you may run into is a bad shut off valve below the toilet or a bad supply line.
If you have a valve that starts to leak, in most cases you can just tighten the nut just below the handle to stop the leak.
If the supply line is bad, it is easy to replace.
