Tips to Replace a Towel Bar

Visit http://www.askthehardwareguy.com for more tips.

Most towel bars now come with a bracket that has 3 holes. I use the set screw on the bottom to mark the width between the brackets. I then mark the height for each side and make a mark for the center of the brackets on each side. Using that center hole as a guide, I then mark where to put my wall anchors. I again use the center hole to line up the bracket as I screw it to the wall. This makes it easy to have the brackets perfectly lined up.

I also like to use the self tapping screw anchors for drywall. If you can't line your bracket up with a stud,  screw anchors are easy to install and they carry a lot of weight.
